Everyone is invited to come join the students from the college ministry in an intentional time of prayer and discussion as we observe Lent together. The Body of Christ is intergenerational, and time in prayer together should be, too!
We will be individually reading through Prayer: Forty Days of Practice by Scott Erickson and Justin McRoberts during the Lenten season (Wednesday, March 6-Saturday April 20), and will have optional weekly meetings at 2:00 on the Sundays of Lent to discuss our time in the book and pray together. Prayer is a rich book of daily prayers and imagery that are meant to help us go deeper with God. Combined with information and guidance on different spiritual disciplines to explore as you read, it is a beautiful tool to use in prayer.
Below is a description of Prayer: Forty Days of Practice.
"We pray because we are human, not because we are religious. Something in our nature points beyond itself; something in us searches for and desires personal connection with God. Although communicating with our Creator through prayer is innate, the effective practice of it often feels just beyond our reach.
This unique book guides you to pray in deeper and more authentic ways. The short prayers and thought-provoking imagery, interspersed with contemplative reflections and suggested practices, will stir, inform, and encourage you. The simplicity of the prayers and the aesthetic appeal of the images will inspire people in every facet of life, including those with no real religious background at all."
