Worship Ministry Vision Statement
The Worship Ministry at Evangelical Presbyterian Church exists to enable both ministry team members and the congregation to honor God through worship that is God-centered, Christ-exalting, and Gospel-focused.
Core Values
Biblical Authority and Truth
The Bible is the measure of excellence and truth and appropriateness in all that is done in the worship ministry.
Therefore: All elements of worship should conform to the truth of scripture.
Gospel Proclamation
The Gospel is relevant and essential to the lives of unbelievers and believers alike.
Therefore: The truth of the Gospel and its relevance to all of life should be foundational to and be shown forth in all aspects of the worship ministry.
Missional Outlook
Worship should be intelligible to both believers and unbelievers who worship with us.
Therefore: We will continually seek to explain and make clear what we are doing and why we are doing it and attempt to see ourselves through the eyes of those who may worship with us.
Diversity
God is calling a people to himself from every tribe, nation, and language from the creation of the world until the return of Christ. God is the God of creativity who blesses his church with gifts in the area of the worship arts, gifts which transcend the barriers of time, culture, and personal preference.
Therefore: We seek to incorporate a wide variety of elements in worship which represent and utilize the vast treasure of art which God has given us to use in worship.
Excellence and quality
God commands us to seek to do all things excellently and as unto the Lord.
Therefore: We seek to do all we do in worship as well as we possibly can and we seek to use elements in our worship service that are high quality.
Development of spiritual gifts
God has gifted his church in a variety of ways and each person in the community of believers has at least one spiritual gift.
Therefore: The worship ministry seeks to identify, utilize, and develop the spiritual gifts of people in our congregation in an intentional way.
Servanthood
Christians are called to humility and servanthood.
Therefore: We seek to serve God and our family in Christ with our gifts and work in worship for the building up of the body and not for our own glory or aggrandizement. We seek to teach all members of the worship ministry to embrace and live out their role as servants.
